what is end-of-the trailphotography
end-of-the-trail is the photography of Al Simmonite, a serious enthusiast photographer from Lancashire, England.
end-of-the-trail is a well known native american symbol from the western USA that I came across on my travels and I feel it symbolises my passion and approach to exploring the world through my photography. For more information on the symbology, click here
who am I
I have been an enthusiastic photographer from the age of 10. I started with a Zenit manual SLR with a 50mm fixed lens and separate light meter so you could say I started from the basics which I believe has conditioned my approach to photography for the next 35+ years. I have maintained my passion for photography throughout a career and family and am now looking to take my photography further at this stage of my life.

what is my passion
my passion is amazing images of any genre but my true love is landscape and travel photography and I have been lucky enough to travel to some amazing places across the years but the 'wish list' never seems to get any shorter.
what is my style
my style is constantly evolving but my compositional and processing style is fundamentally realistic. If it wasn't captured through the lens you won't see it in my images. I'm just starting to get into panoramas and although I recognise all the standard compositional techniques I much prefer to let my eye be the judge through the viewfinder. Angles, symmetry, pushing beyond the 'rule of thirds' all feature in my photography.
